From dinner at a family-owned trattoria without a menu to a Michelin stared ristorante this 10 day experience is especially designed for lovers of wine and food who would like to focus on the rich region of Piemonte / Piedmont. Truffles, Barolo, gourmet dinners, visits to vineyards – combined with day and half-day trips to particular places of interest.
Would you like to sample and experience the very different food and wine of Northern Italy and in particular the specific area of the Langhe, home of the magnificent Barolo wine and the unique combination of Italian and French influenced food?
Our tour is ALL INCLUSIVE from the moment we meet in Torino to the moment we depart from the city 10 days later. We start our tour with 4 nights in the elegant and surprisingly beautiful city of Torino, a major business, industrial (cars and aerospace) and cultural centre of Italy. Historically it's famous for architecture, chocolate, some of Europe’s oldest and most beautiful cafés and as the first city of unified Italy. We drive a short distance to the Piemonte countryside to spend 5 nights in a fabulous 4 star hotel in an area full of character, and Italian vitality. We will be located for this week in the heart of the Langhe area of Piemonte, which is not only an area of outstanding beauty, but home to the famous wine of the nebbiolo grape, the Barolo, as well as tasting and discussing the other varietals of the area including Barbera, Dolcetto, Barbaresco and Friesa.
Our winery visits will be a unique combination of spending time with the winemakers from small family vineyards to larger commercial (but still family owned) companies that all produce excellent quality wine for Italians and for the export market. We will be guided by winemakers through the unique terroir, history and production of some of the area’s best wines. We plan to visit 3 wineries: first a new and modern one where is produced a wide range of wines, the majority of which use the nebbiolo grape, using both time-honoured and innovative procedures; our second winerey is very different - smaller and exclusive, in Barolo where the winemaker's philosophy extends to magical environments for the wine as well as the wnemakers, and finally, a large, but still family owned winery featuring, as well as Barolo. Barbaresco, Barbera, Dolcetto and Moscato.
Our food experiences will range from a Michelin star restaurant to a local family owned osteria that has no menu but serves a large and bountiful array of wonderful seasonal dishes and who pride themselves on the locally made house wines brought to the table in litre jugs.
We travel only short distances each day in a comfortable small vehicle: "Piemonte's Palate: Luxury Taste Travels" will be an entertaining, informative and wonderful experience.
